John Bailey
John BaileyI joined Northern Air Hospital Radio in the summer of 2011 and I'm the Membership Secretary for Northern Air Hospital Radio.

I first listened to Northern Air Hospital Radio whilst I was a patient in North Manchester General Hospital in 1999 whilst recovering from a mild heart attack. I noticed that some patients had no visitors so now as a volunteer, I like to especially talk to these patients. One patient mentioned coal mining and as I'm an ex-miner, we had a good chat about the mines in Nottinghamshire.

The main reason I became a volunteer was to make peoples stay in hospital a little more enjoyable. I am a member of the Monday & Thursday night teams and enjoy visiting the patients on these nights and getting there requests.

My era in music is the 1960's and I support Notts County (yes I am that fan!). I also work for the Co-operative Bank during the day.

We always need volunteers so if you're over 18 and would like to get involved, just ring me on a Monday or Thursday evening after 7-30pm on 0161 740 7474 or e-mail me at

We'd love to hear from you.
